My vote is like a Christmas tree. . . . .

Politics. Politics. Politics. I am so bloody sick of politics.

There are so many signs all over the place, a person can’t even tell which houses are for sale and which houses just got new vinyl siding and which houses are telling you that IT’S A BOY and which houses house a fanatic.

The only yard that warranted a second glance from me was one I drove past just tonight. It was a very big yard, and a can of spray paint had divided it evenly down the middle. On one side, Republican signs. On the other side, Democratic signs. On the line, pink flamingoes, all in a row.

I’m tempted to write in ‘Pink Flamingo’ on the ballot.

What are some of these one-dimensional bloggers going to write about after the election is over? There’s nothing in some blogs except political blather. Once it’s over, what will replace it? What will these people do with their lives, after the election is over?

I mean, after the recount is over?

Actually, what I mean is, after ALL the recounts are over?

Truthfully, I don’t much care about politics. I know I should, but I don’t. I always vote, because people who don’t vote forfeit their right to whine.

I have never missed an election yet. Neither has my husband.

We’ve cancelled each other’s votes for almost thirty years now. It’s a tradition we have. Kind of like the Christmas tree.

  1. I would just like to say that people have died in many wars to preserve my right to vote, or not to vote. It is my right as an American citizen to not vote and still complain about it. I feel that an uninformed vote is more woeful than not voting at all. But that is just my opinion. And please believe me, I know what it is worth. Thanx for listening.

  3. I just might vote for Pink Flamingo too, but I have to cancel out my husband’s vote. After the political debacle all those people will complain or uplift whoever actually “wins”, (I use that term loosely.)

  5. Amen to that.

We have houses like that here too…Bush signs in one lawn and Kerry signs in the next.

I think a small civil war is going to break out on Nov 2nd.

I’ll be hiding in a bomb shelter if you need me.

  7. I don’t know. I didn’t start my blog writing about politics but I have become obsessed with doing so as the election nears. I feel like it’s important to spread the word in any way I can, because I think Bush is dangerous. JMHO.

I have, on purpose, not published non-political blogs that I’m working on, this week, saving them until after the election. Maybe it’s the wrong thing to do, but that’s the beauty of the whole blog world: I get to decide.

That said, I agree with you that it’s time to get it (the elecction) over with. I hope it actually happens next week.

My husband hasn’t voted since he voted for Nixon to keep him out of Vietnam. Guess how well that worked?

    Nice blog, Scheiss.

  9. I think there are some people who simply MUST have something to bitch about and politics is the easiest target. It’s also the most sure way to start an argument.

I like the flamingo idea, though.

  13. Hah! That is great… at least the pink flamingo household have obviously retained a sense of humour about the whole affair.

I was just saying to someone the other day, I hope that all the one-eyed political bloggers pick up after themselves and don’t leave their trash littering up the internet for the rest of us. Yeah, like that is going to happen.

Someone I know in particular who is a political animal as far as issues go, refuses to vote. Here (Australia) it is compulsory, you get fined if you don’t. So they refuse to vote on principle… I am always having *that* argument with them, telling them exactly that ‘if you choose not to vote, you don’t deserve to have an opinion’.

  15. Have you ever written a book? You should. You are very witty, and sound like you you have a handle on things. I am one of those that will have to change focus after the elections. Keep up the good work. Bear
